Position Summary: We are seeking an experienced, detail-oriented senior accountant to join our Finance team with specialty in construction and service accounting. Responsibilities include full-cycle accounting for one or more portfolio companies with the candidate overseeing all financial activity, ensuring compliance with accounting standards, and providing strategic insight on construction projects, service agreements, overall operations, etc.  

Responsibilities:  

Accounting Operations Management: 

  • Financial reporting, general ledger management, and month-end/year-end closing
  • Accounts payable/receivable management including vendor management, AR collections, and intercompany transactions
  • Payroll processing for construction/service teams and ensure compliance with applicable labor laws
  • Emphasis on revenue recognition for construction and maintenance service agreements

Job Costing and Budgeting: 

  • Develop and maintain accurate job costing, budgeting, and forecasting for construction projects and service contracts   
  • Weekly cash flow projections to facilitate timely AR collections and vendor payment
  • Tracking of project revenues, expenses and profitability with a focus on cost controls

Financial Reporting and Risk Management 

  • Prepare budgets, financial statements, reports, and dashboards for senior management, highlighting key performance indicators and financial trends
  • Document policies and procedures to strengthen operational and financial controls  

Regulatory Compliance: 

  • Maintain regulatory compliance requirements and industry-specific accounting standards, including GAAP and tax laws
  • Assist in audits, tax filings, and preparation of financial documentation for external parties 

Qualifications:  

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field  
  • Minimum of 5 years of accounting experience, with at least 2 years specializing in construction and/or service accounting
  • Proficiency in QuickBooks, with experience in job costing and project-based accounting
  • Strong knowledge of construction contracts, billing cycles, and related financial processes
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Experience with financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and tax compliance
